Andy Thompson Bio
Andy has over fifteen+ years post-military experience of protective security and cyber risk consultancy, programme leadership, and business management across EMEA, supporting Government, NGO, Oil & Gas, Critical Infrastructure, International News Media, and Financial Services companies, as well as building digital platforms to help mitigate supply chain risk and combat the fragmented and opaque nature of the security market,
His early career included supporting NATO peacekeeping operations in the Balkans, followed by consulting and leading projects within multinational, multi-agency, high threat locations across EMEA. Andy worked in support of the UN Mission in Afghanistan to ensure the success or the first Presidential Election in 2004, before helping global Oil & Gas Services companies secure operations in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. He delivered emergency response consulting and training for the UK National Grid LNG Terminals, as well as providing consultancy and operational support to the US Army Corps Of Engineers Oil Reconstruction Programme in Iraq. After playing a key role in mitigating the impact of security risks on operations of Oil and Gas sector clients in Kurdistan, including country evacuation following the rapid emergence of ISIS as a major terror threat, Andy developed the security planning required in support of a major Gas Pipeline project across Southern Europe. As a SaaS founder and digital product strategist, Andy established a technology startup, developing digital marketing and recruitment applications for organizations operating in dynamic security environments, from conflict zones to cyber space, building a stakeholder network to help advance partnerships, solutions and careers.
